About Constantia Wine Company
Constantia Wine Company is a small New York State farm winery producing handcrafted, small-batch wines in the Finger Lakes region. Taking its name from the Latin word for constancy and steadfastness, the winery is dedicated to elegant wines that express the character of each grape variety, vineyard site, and vintage, with fruit sourced from distinctive sites in the Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake AVAs, including its own small, high-elevation vineyard.
The winemaking philosophy begins in the vineyard: fruit is harvested for physiological ripeness, fermented in small lots, and gently guided through the cellar rather than heavily manipulated. Whites aim for captivating aromatics and balance, while reds are built around structure and elegance with judicious aging in fine French oak. The lineup spans multiple styles of Riesling, Chardonnay, Gruner Veltliner, dry rose, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, the Bordeaux-style Uniquity Red Blend, and a barrel-aged sparkling cider, with several wines earning gold and silver medals in regional and national competitions.
In summer 2025 the winery opened a tasting room and bottle shop at 381 Main Street in the idyllic Village of Aurora, on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake along scenic State Route 90, adjacent to the Inns of Aurora properties. Visitors can enjoy personalized tastings and flights, wines by the glass, bottle sales, and light fare such as cheese and charcuterie in a relaxed lakeside setting; the tasting room is even accessible by boat via the nearby Inns of Aurora dock.
